Breeding Shih Tzu
Breeding shih tzu dogs is difficult and many illbred dogs get into rescues and the dogs have to be rehomed.
Like all purebred dogs, these creatures are prone to several health disorders and it is the aim of all responsible breeders to avoid them by screening both the sire and the dam prior to mating. The most common disorders are: spinal disk disease, ear, eye and respiratory problems.

These dogs belong to the toy group. They are 9-11 inches high at the shoulders and weigh from 9 to 16 pounds. The main hallmark of this breed is long hair that grows about the face in all directions and creates the “chrysanthemum” look.
